‘Our babies will be smart and beautiful… Not to mention imaginary.’ – The Big Bang Theory, 2007 – 2019

Happy Monday, everyone! I, like everyone else, was back to work this week – so I’ve been finding some easy stuff to binge watch when I get home. Coming into 2019, I realised something. I have never seen all of The Big Bang Theory (I think you can see where this week’s review is going). I admit, I’ve not finished it all yet, but thought I’d give you all my thoughts. Without further here we go!

The Couples – The Big Bang Theory, Warner Bros., 2007-2019

Everyone probably knows the plot of The Big Bang Theory but here’s a brief recap of the plot: Leonard, Sheldon, Raj and Howard are all scientists at Cal Tech University, California. They are all best friends and all pretty brilliant in their fields. They spend most of their time playing video games, reading comic books, going to comic con – you know, the “usual nerd stuff.” Next door, a pretty waitress/actress named Penny moves in, and Leonard instantly falls for her. Each of them, bar Raj, also gets a girl (Bernadette for Howard and Amy for Sheldon). It’s about their lives as they traverse being super nerdy, weird and geeky with trying to fit in with society. Obviously, it’s quite difficult for them – it’s all part of the joke.

The gang – The Big Bang Theory, Warner Bros. 2007-2019

It may be the nostalgia talking, but I do like The Big Bang Theory. Sure it can occasionally be eye rolling, and I’m not sure that it would be as funny without the laughter track – which does play at the wrong time sometimes (it’s not always played at a funny bit). Sometimes it alienates nerds from others.
But I do like it. It IS funny. I understand their relationships with the friends, family and partners… and why they’re friends. I think the characters are funny. I may think otherwise in another 5 seasons, but on season 6 I am enjoying it. Enough to keep binge watching. It IS worth watching, just for something in the background. I do like it. Honest.
