O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, Your branches green delight us!
Now you’re in the Christmas mood, I’m going to be talking about Christmas movies today. Yes I have already started watching Christmas movies. Not because I’m one of these “CHRISTMAS STARTS IN NOVEMBER WOOOOOO!” people but because I like mind numbing tele when I’m doing other things.
Without further ado, here’s my Christmas movie recommendations so far!
The Princess Switch
The Princess Switch is about a woman named Stacy DeNovo is a young baker who runs a pastry shop friend Kevin Richards. After being invited to a fancy cook-off, Stacy meets Lady Margaret Delacourt, future bride of Edward. Margaret and Stacy note that they look perfectly identical and exchange roles for a couple of days.
Obviously both girls have romances with their twins main main and hijinks ensue.
I really liked this film. I liked the hijinks. Even the acting wasn’t the worst for a Christmas movie. It is 100% watchable. And I will be rewatching this when I need a feel good movie. I recommend it to any Christmas movie fan!
The Man who Invented Christmas
he Man who Invented Christmas is a film about Charles Dickens and how he invented Scrooge. It seems to be semi-biographical, as it does include some historical knowledge about him – Two years after the success of his book Oliver Twist, Dickens is suffering from financial hardship. He’s in debt with everyone. To make a lot of money. he sets out to write a new book to restore his finances. Seeing inspiration around London, he begins writing A Christmas Carol, in six weeks so it can be published for Christmas. As he begins to write, he interacts with the characters he is writing about, most notably Ebenezer Scrooge. He seeks help from those around him as he rushes to get the book done in time!
As a Lit grad, I have to say I really like a good biopic. And this was a good biopic. Dan Stevens plays Dickens really really well. Again, I recommend it (especially if you know the story of A Christmas Carol!)
A Christmas Prince
Amber Moore (an inspiring young journalist) is sent to the foreign nation of Aldovia to cover a press conference with the crown prince Richard, who is set to take the throne following his father’s recent death. Richard is alleged to be an irresponsible playboy and is also rumored to be planning to abdicate. Amber decides to snoop around the palace and while doing so is mistaken for young Princess Emily’s new tutor. Amber takes the opportunity to go undercover to investigate the rumors around Prince Richard.
You’ll notice there’s a lot of Christmas Prince movies on Netflix. But this is by far the best. I love this movie and can’t wait to binge it again before the sequel. Honestly, this is the best movie.
Have you seen any of these movies? What do you think of Dickens? What about Christmas Royalty movies? Leave a comment down below!
